Donaldson, Minus named Zaxby's Athletes of the Week

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Tusculum University basketball guard Donovan Donaldson and track sprinter Raygene Minus have been named the Zaxby's Athletes of the Week.  Donaldson earns his third Athlete of the Week honor this year.

Donaldson averaged 24.5 points and 10 rebounds per game, and shot 52.6 percent from three-point territory (10-of-19) as the Pioneers posted a perfect 2-0 record.  He posted a career-high 32 points in Tusculum's 80-77 overtime win at Wingate on Saturday.  The Nashville, Tenn. product went 13-of-23 from the field including a career-best six 3-pointers (on 12 attempts).  He scored 24 points after halftime and knocked down the final points of the game as TU won at Wingate for the first time since 2011.  He opened the week with a career double-double of 17 points and a career-best 17 rebounds in the Pioneers' 63-49 victory over arch-rival Carson-Newman.  The 17 rebounds are tied for the seventh-most in TU history as he tallied his second double-double of the season.  Donaldson has led the Pioneers to a four-game winning streak, its longest string of victories since 2010.  He leads the SAC in 3-point field goal percentage going 43-of-86 this year, which is fourth-best in the nation.

Minus ran leadoff leg for the Pioneers 4x400-meter relay team that finished first at the Gamecock Inaugural on Friday with a school-record time of 3:59.79. The native of Nassau, Bahamas also set two individual school records in the meet, finishing eighth overall in the 400 meters (58.34 seconds) and 19th in the 200 meters (26.27 seconds).

The Tusculum University Athlete of the Week Award is sponsored by Zaxby's, located at 3280 Andrew Johnson Highway in Greeneville.  The Zaxby's Athlete of the Week Award honors one male and one female athlete each week from an in-season sport.
