Ford, McMillen named Zaxby's Athletes of the Week

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Tusculum University third baseman Bryson Ford and distance runner Nicole McMillen have been named the Zaxby's Athletes of the Week.  McMillen earns Athlete of the Week honors for a fifth time this season.

Ford, a sophomore from Knoxville, Tennessee, batted .636 and drove in nine RBI while leading the Tusculum baseball team to a perfect 3-0 record last week.  He went 7-for-11 on the week, scoring four runs with two doubles and a triple while also accounting for three stolen bases.  He posted a hit in all three games including a 3-for-5 performance with two RBI in TU's 6-5 road win at Lander University last Monday.  On Sunday, he went 4-for-6 with seven RBI in the Pioneers' doubleheader sweep over Goldey-Beacom.

McMillen, a senior from Pickering, Ontario, Canada won gold in the women's mile run and finished second in the 3,000 meters at the South Atlantic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships last weekend.  She set a meet record in winning the mile by 9 ½ seconds then took silver in the 3,000 meters as the TU women finished fourth overall in the field of 11 teams.  McMillen won the mile with a time of 5:06.43, nearly 10 seconds ahead of the second place finisher.  She posted a time of 10:12.72 in the 3000 meters to earn a spot on the medal stand.

The Tusculum University Athlete of the Week Award is sponsored by Zaxby's, located at 3280 Andrew Johnson Highway in Greeneville.  The Zaxby's Athlete of the Week Award honors one male and one female athlete each week from an in-season sport.
