The  Pioneer Sports Network handles all broadcasts of Tusculum College Athletics on WSMG Radio (1450 AM), and on the Internet at The broadcast team of Brian Stayton, Joe Byrd, Justin Jeffers and executive producer Nathan Humbard will describe all the action.

Stayton returns to the microphone as the “Voice of the Pioneers” for his 20th consecutive season. Since 1996, Stayton has served in a variety of roles in the Greeneville broadcast community. He has served as sports director, program director and on-air talent. He has also handled play-by-play duties for the Greeneville Astros, Greene County high school sports as well as the Andrew Johnson Bank Ladies’ Classic.

Prior to working at WSMG, Stayton gained experience with many radio outlets in the Southeast and the Midwest including WLW-Radio in Cincinnati, Ohio, the flagship station of the Cincinnati Reds.

The South Bend, Ind. native was an All-SAC forward for the Carson-Newman University men’s soccer team.  The 1995 Carson-Newman graduate is married to the former Erin Hahlen of Greeneville and they have two children, son Connor and daughter Gabrielle. In 2008, Stayton was the recipient of the Tusculum Sports Benefactor Award.
