ROCK HILL, S.C. --- Tusculum University junior Guillaume Devries has been selected the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 14, the SAC office announced Tuesday.
Devries established a season best by clearing 2.08 meters (6 feet, 9 3/4 inches) in the high jump during competition at the Gamecock Invitational on Saturday. Devries went head-to-head with four Division I jumpers and hit 2.08 meters on his third attempt, eventually finishing second to former All-American Cody Stine of Ohio State who cleared 2.13 meters (6 feet, 11 3/4 inches) on his second try.
The Valenciennes, France native is currently tied for 11th in Division II with his mark of 2.08 meters, and is ranked first on the South Atlantic Conference performance list in the event. Devries was second in the high jump at the SAC Indoor Championship in February.
Devries is scheduled to compete in the high jump at the SAC Outdoor Championship meet on Saturday at 3:30 p.m., held at the Irwin Belk Track on the campus of Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory, North Carolina.
