WEST BABYLON, N.Y. --- Tusculum University freshman Abbygale Hunt has been named the East Coast Conference Rookie Bowler of the Week announced league officials Thursday.
Hunt, a native of Savannah, Tennessee, posted a 194.83 average to lead the Pioneers to a fifth place showing at the Warhawk Classic last weekend. Hunt's average was seventh in the tournament as TU posted an 8-5 record including a sizzling 7-1 in the final two days combined.
The Pioneers tallied a perfect 5-0 record last Saturday including a 942-910 win over 13th-ranked Lincoln Memorial University, TU's second victory over a nationally-ranked opponent in Tusculum's inaugural season.
Hunt bowled a 215 in the win over LMU and followed with a 239 later in a Tusculum win over Aurora University.
She had the highest frame average of any ECC rookie last week, compiling a mark of 19.43. Hunt filled 85 percent of her frames and compiled a 44.0 strike percentage.
The Pioneers (19-19) will travel to Greensboro, North Carolina this weekend for the Stallings Invitational, which is hosted by North Carolina A&T University.
