JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – Tusculum University's Taylor Gransen opened with a round of 76 and is in third place after day one of the 2019 Mars Hill University Invitational. The two-day, 36-hole tournament is being held at the Johnson City Country Club.

The Pioneers, who are the defending champions of this tournament, posted a team score of 325 and is in second place, eight shots behind first day leader Milligan College (317).

Milligan's Michaela Lindahl and King University's Sasha Gardiner share the individual lead after each carding a 74.  TU's Gransen holds sole possession of third, while teammate Jennifer Keim is tied for fourth place with 77 along with Milligan's Nellie Berglund, who is playing as an individual competitor.

For Tusculum, rookie Yen Xuan Ong is tied for sixth place after shooting 79, while TU teammates Meredith Barton (93) and Mackenzie Butler (98) are 23rd and 28th, respectively.

Belmont Abbey College is third in the team competition with 328, while King is fourth with 344 and Mars Hill is fifth at 349.

 

The final round will be played on Tuesday at the Johnson City Country Club.
