Clark, Axelsson named Applebee's Student-Athletes of the Month

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Tusculum University soccer players Mason Clark and Wilma Axelsson have been named the Applebee's Student-Athletes of the Month for October 2025.

Clark, a junior midfielder from Coral Springs, Florida, scored four goals and dished out an assist for his nine points to help the Pioneers to a 4-2-1 record in the month.

Clark scored the match-winner with 30 seconds remaining in Tusculum's dramatic 1-0 South Atlantic Conference win at Catawba.

He followed with a goal against Emory & Henry and notched a two-goal performance against Coker as he scored in three consecutive matches. He also recorded an assist in TU's 2-0 win at Lees-McRae.

Clark's five goals this year are tied for the fifth-most in the league. In his 28 career outings, he has totaled seven goals and two assists for 16 points.

Axelsson, a graduate student from Ytterby, Sweden, accounted for one goal and five assists to lead the TU women's soccer team to a 5-1-2 record in October as the Pioneers clinched a berth into the SAC Postseason for the first time since 2022.

Axelsson distributed a career-high three assists in Tusculum's 6-1 win over Mars Hill, becoming the 10^th player in program history to record three helpers in a match.

Her lone goal of the month proved to be the match-winner in TU's 3-2 come-from-behind win over Coker. She scored in the 56^th minute as the Pioneers overcame a 2-1 deficit to extend Tusculum's home unbeaten streak to seven matches (5 wins, 2 draws).

She also posted an assist against eighth-ranked Catawba and also had an assist in the victory over Coker.

In her 15 matches this year, she has totaled two goals and a team-high six assists which are the fourth-most helpers in the league. For her career, she has played 58 contests, with 39 starts and has totaled four goals and nine assists for her 17 points.
