JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. --- The Tusculum University women's beach volleyball team fell at Carson-Newman on Wednesday (Apr. 1) afternoon.
Tusculum (6-17, 3-3 SACC) faces the remaining members of the conference this weekend (Apr. 3-4) in Due West, South Carolina. The Pioneers square off with Emmanuel and host Erskine on Friday, followed by Wingate and Catawba on Saturday.
Four of the five flights went to a decisive third set in the battle of the 11-E rivals.
At the top flight, Hannah Marsh and Sofia Vega Barrantes suffered a reverse sweep in a tight fight by scores of 21-17, 19-21, 21-23.
Brynn Smith and Sylvia Liszewski also were the victims of a reverse sweep at No. 2: 21-19, 13-21, 11-15.
The No. 3 flight was the third comeback for the Eagles by a 15-21, 21-15, 15-11 margin over Cooper George and Dasha Nikolaeva.
The 5's of Siri Aasgard and Ally Doty forced a third set but were unable to come away with the victory: 18-21, 21-19, 12-15.
The lone flight that did not require a third set was at 4's. Jordyn Anderson and Solene Roussel dropped a 21-16, 21-6 decision.
