GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Tanner Kilgore went 4-for-4 with four RBI to lead the Carson-Newman baseball team to a 15-3 non-conference win over Tusculum in seven innings, Tuesday afternoon at Eastman Credit Union Field and Pioneer Park.

The undefeated Eagles (6-0) racked up a dozen hits, seven walks and four hit batsmen as C-N halted Tusculum's four-game winning streak.

The Pioneers (4-3) were led at the plate by Jake Absher who went 2-for-2 with a pair of walks as TU finished with eight hits.

Carson-Newman jumped out to an 8-0 lead plating five runs in the first and three more in the second. TU trimmed the deficit to 8-3 with a run in the second and two more in the third. But the Eagles would score two runs each in the fourth, fifth and seventh frames to go along with a single tally in the sixth.

Reliever Alec Wilson picked up the victory as he tossed 2.1 shutout innings where he allowed a pair of singles. C-N's Seth Benner and McCain Mangum pitched one shutout inning apiece as the Eagles blanked the Pioneers in the final five frames.

Tusculum will open South Atlantic Conference play this weekend as they take on defending league champion and nationally-ranked Catawba for a three-game set beginning with Friday's 5 p.m. series opener.
