WINGATE, N.C. --- Wingate used 13 hits and took advantage of four Tusculum errors as the Bulldogs posted an 11-0 South Atlantic Conference baseball win Friday night, in seven innings, at Ron Christopher Stadium.
Wingate (12-4, 5-2 SAC) got multiple-hit performances by six different players, while pitchers Chad Harvey and Gabe Barker combined on a four-hit shutout of the Pioneers (5-10, 1-6 SAC).
Harvey went 6.1 innings where he allowed four hits, one walk and posted 10 strikeouts. Barker cleaned up in the seventh as he worked around two walks while posting a strikeout.
TU starter Owen Canter went four innings as he allowed seven hits, five runs (3 earned), three walks and three strikeouts.
Sean Sullivan went 2-for-4 with three RBI, while Gavin Groppusso went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a triple.
Wingate scored three times in the bottom of the first, plated two more in the fifth and exploded for six runs in the fifth inning to take the 11-0 lead.
Tusculum's Kolby Watson went 2-for-3 for the Pioneers, while Landon Dockery and Evan Goins accounted for TU's other two hits.
TU reliever Ben Randall had a solid outing as he pitched 1.1 innings where he retired all four batters he would face.
The two teams will wrap up the weekend series with Saturday's 1 p.m. doubleheader.
