CLEVELAND, Tenn. --- The Lee University baseball team utilized a 14-hit barrage while getting some solid pitching in the process as the Flames posted an 11-1 non-conference win in seven innings over visiting Tusculum Tuesday night at Larry Carpenter Stadium.
Lee (24-13) avenged last month's 12-9 road loss to the Pioneers (12-26) to even the season series.
The Flames got three-hit performances from Landon Franklin and Keilin Sanders while Aiden McClary went 2-for-4 with three RBI.
Zach Tierney (2-0) picked up the victory in relief as he took over after three pitches from starter Zachary Lawson, which hit TU's first three batters to load the bases. Tierney got out of the jam with an infield pop-up and back-to-back strikeouts.
He would pitch three shutout innings working around two hits, one walk and four strikeouts to post the victory.
Tusculum's three hits included a double off the bat of Steve Scarfone. Ryan Ortega was hit by a pitch twice on Tuesday to give him a team-best 16 times this season, which is second in the South Atlantic Conference and is the fourth-most in a season by a Pioneer.
Tusculum will be on the road this weekend for a three-game league series at UVA Wise beginning with Friday's 5 p.m. opener.
