ROCK HILL, S.C. --- Tusculum University third baseman Evan Goins has been named the WePlayed Sports South Atlantic Conference Baseball Player of the Week.
The Knoxville, Tennessee junior went 8-for-11 (.727) last week with three home runs and seven RBI in Tusculum's three-game sweep at UVA Wise.
He opened the series with a career game which saw him belt three home runs in a 4-for-4 performance which included six RBI in an 18-4 victory. The three home runs are tied for the second most in a TU single-game while his six RBI are tied for the eighth-most by a Pioneer.
Goins followed with another four-hit effort in Tusculum's 13-11 win over the Cavaliers in 12 innings. He started the final game of the series, but was hit by a pitch in his first at-bat, cutting short his weekend.
He finished the week with a .750 on-base percentage and a whopping 1.545 slugging percentage.
Following Tuesday's non-conference game at Carson-Newman University, the Pioneers will return home to host nationally-ranked Lenoir-Rhyne University for a three-game SAC series.
