ORLANDO, Fla. --- The Tusculum University cheerleading squad attended the University Cheerleaders Association (UCA) nationals for the second year in a row, held at ESPN's Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida.
Hoping to advance to the finals once again, the Pioneers came up short in the small co-ed game day division. With a competition field that was composed of 14 NCAA Division I teams (with the remaining 10 across Division II, Division III, NAIA, and junior college levels), the event was highly-contested.
Head coach Trea King praised the team's attitude, "It was tough to see them fall in places this year, but we held our own with many well-known Division I teams." King continued, "The judges gave us good comments and we are ready to fight back next year. I am proud of this team and how they work to pull it together. The team is excited to learn and grow each year and plan to make a showing again in January 2024."
