| Title: | Head Spirit Coordinator |
Canaan Loope was promoted as Tusculum University's head spirit coordinator in May 2025. He is responsible for all day-to-day operations of the Tusculum cheerleading and dance programs.
He joined the Tusculum Spirit staff in 2023 where he served as an assistant coach for two seasons. He also serves as a Graduate Enrollment Representative working in the admissions department at Tusculum. Canaan, an East Tennessee native, has coached in various roles over the last five years, from East Coast Cheer & Tumble Assistant Coach to Tri-Star Stunting Coach and Tri-cities Area Director.
Loope is a King University and University of Tennessee graduate, earning a Bachelors degree in Business Management and a Masters in Kinesiology: Sport Psychology and Motor Behavior. He was also a member of each school’s cheer team during his time as a student, cheering three years at King, before graduating and cheering at Tennessee for two years while completing his graduate degree. While at UT, Canaan competed in UCA D1A Game Day and Traditional routines and won a Game Day National Championship (2021).
