ROCK HILL, S.C. --- Tusculum University football student-athlete Dexler Benjamin has been awarded the South Atlantic Conference's McGriff Minority Postgraduate Scholarship.

"We are honored to continue to partner with McGriff Insurance to award minority postgraduate scholarships to our outstanding student-athletes," said SAC Commissioner Patrick Britz. "The SAC continues its commitment to diversity and assisting student-athletes further their education. We are delighted to reward Dexler for the hard work and dedication he has put in academically and athletically."

Benjamin graduated from Tusculum this past May with magna cum laude honors with his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. The Roswell, Georgia native finished with a 3.78 cumulative grade point average while majoring in pre-pharmacy.

He is a three-time recipient of the Division II Athletic Directors Association Academic Achievement Award. He earned the Tusculum Freshman of the Year Academic Award in 2020 and the Tusculum Student-Athlete Academic Achievement Award in 2020. He is a member of the National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society, SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll, Dean's List, Charles Oliver Gray Honors List, Athletic Director's Honor Roll and the President's List.

A member of the Tusculum football program since 2019, he helped the Pioneers to an 8-3 record last fall while finishing runner-up in the SAC Mountain Division. He was also a member of Tusculum's SAC Championship team during the COVID abbreviated spring season in 2021.

The McGriff Insurance Services Minority Postgraduate Scholarships are awarded to SAC minority student-athletes who excel academically and athletically. Benjamin will receive a one-time, non-renewable scholarship of $2,125 toward the graduate school of his choice.
