ROCK HILL, S.C. --- Tusculum University quarterback Matthew Palazzo and linebacker Wesley Scott have been named the WePlayed Sports South Atlantic Conference Football Players of the Week. Palazzo was named the SAC Offensive Player of the Week, while Scott received Defensive Player of the Week recognition.
Palazzo, a sophomore from Greeneville, Tennessee, accounted for four touchdowns in Tusculum's 35-21 SAC win over Catawba. He went 23-for-33 for 226 passing yard and two touchdowns. He also rushed for 56 yards and a pair of TD runs, giving him four on the season.
Scott, a junior from Hobe Sound, Florida, recorded a season-high 13 tackles including three for loss and two sacks. He also forced a fumble and recovered another as the TU defense force five turnovers in first half, resulting in 21 points. Tusculum ended the game with a season-best seven sacks.
Tusculum (2-2, 2-0 SAC) is off to its first 2-0 league start since 2007. The Pioneers return to action this Saturday when they host Barton College for a 2 p.m. conference game at Pioneer Field.
