Jaylan Adams was named to the Tusculum University football coaching staff in Summer 2025. He serves as a graduate assistant coach where he mentors Tusculum’s receiving corps.

Adams, a native of Johnson City, Tennessee, played his collegiate career at The Citadel. While at the NCAA-FCS school in Charleston, South Carolina, he played in 34 games at quarterback where he amassed over 3,000 yards of total offense and accounted for 31 touchdowns. He passed for 1,350 career yards and completed 10 touchdowns. He recorded 402 rushing attempts for 1,690 yards and 21 touchdowns, averaging 4.2 yards per carry.

During his 2021 senior campaign, he passed for 1,071 yards and seven touchdowns, while also grounding out a team-best 948 rushing yards to go along with his 12 TD runs. He ran for 100 yards to open the season against 22nd-ranked Coastal Carolina.

He also lettered on The Citadel track & field team where he established several personal records as a sprinter.

He played the 2022 season at NCAA-FCS Norfolk State University as he played in 10 contests at quarterback where he passed for 417 yards and two touchdowns, while also rushing for 175 yards and a score.

Following Norfolk State, he received an invitation to attend rookie minicamp with the Washington Commanders.

He played his prep career at Science Hill High School where he was honored as the Tri-Cities Elite 11 Player of the Year. He was a three-time All-Conference performer and was named the WJHL Player of the Week on three occasions.

His father, Gary Adams, was drafted by the Montreal Expos.

Adams completed his Bachelor of Science degree from the The Citadel in 2022 where he majored in business administration.
