PANAMA CITY, Fla. --- The Tusculum College men's golf team shot 319 and finished eighth at the Outback Steakhouse Intercollegiate Tuesday at the Hombre Golf Club. Monday's opening round was rained out as the tournament was shortened to 18 holes.
Tusculum's Derek Cantrell was the top Pioneer as he posted a four-over par 76 and tied for eighth place. David Talley tied for 16th place with his 78, while Nick York carded an 81 and finished 37th. Luke Fullen posted an 84 to tie for 47th place, while Dakota Norton rounded out the scoring with an 88 to place 64th.
Flagler won the team competition with Tuesday's 307, finishing one shot ahead of Central Alabama at 308. Lincoln Memorial finished third with 310, followed by King (311), Armstrong Atlantic (312), Columbus State (312), St. Edward's (316), Tusculum (319), Montevallo (323), Southern Wesleyan (328), Catawba (330), North Greenville (331), North Georgia (331), Cape Fear (333) and Lenoir-Rhyne (347).
Central Alabama's Christian Humber captured medalist honors with 73, one shot ahead of runner-up Greg Mergel of Flagler (74).
Tusculum returns to action Mar. 7-8 as the Pioneers travel to Salisbury, N.C. to play in the Richard Rendleman Invitational.
