OWENSBORO, Ky. --- The Tusculum University men's golf team is in ninth place following the opening round of the Bill Crabtree Invitational, which is being held at The Pearl Club and hosted by Kentucky Wesleyan.
The Pioneers shot a first day 297 and is tied for ninth place with Purdue Northwest. Missouri S&T has the lead after Monday's 11-under par total of 277 and leads by eight shots over Southern Indiana (285). Gannon is third with 288, followed by McKendree (290), Ferris State (291), Illinois Springfield (293) and host Kentucky Wesleyan (293) to round out the top-seven.
Kentucky State is eighth with 294, followed by Tusculum (297), Purdue Northwest (297), Maryville, Mo. (300), Kentucky Wesleyan B (316), Brescia (320) and John A. Logan (327).
KWC's Jonah Graham and Isaac To of Missouri S&T are tied for first place as each carded a four-under par 68 on Monday.
Tusculum's Liam van Deventer is just three shots off the lead following his one-under par 71 which has him tied for 13th place. Hunter Hartman's even par 72 has him tied for 18th, Blake Williams' 76 is tied for 45th, Marinus Jeebe is 53rd after his 78, Liam Hermansson is tied for 58th with 79 and Buster O'Callaghan rounds out the TU scoring with his 82 (T76th).
The final round of the two-day, 36-hole event will be held on Tuesday on the par-2, 6,888-yard layout.
