GREENVILLE, S.C. --- The Tusculum Pioneers are in 10^th place after the opening round of the 2025 South Atlantic Conference Men's Golf Championship. The three-day, 54-hole tournament is being held at The Preserve at Verdae on the par-72, 6,872-yard layout.

The Pioneers posted a team score of 305 with freshman Harrison Price leading the charge as he carded a two-over par 74 and is tied for 18^th place.

Lincoln Memorial, the fourth-ranked team in NCAA Division II, has the first day lead as the Railsplitters posted a nine-under par total 279, one shot ahead of second place Wingate (No. 13 in NCAA II) who posted 280.

Anderson is third with 294, Lenoir-Rhyne is fourth with 296, while Coker and Carson-Newman each fired 299 and are tied for fifth place. Newberry is seventh with 303, followed by Catawba (304), UVA Wise (304), Tusculum (305), Limestone (309), Mars Hill (318) and Emory & Henry (331).

Wingate's Lewis Beeden carded an eight-under par round of 64 and has a four stroke lead over LMU's Ian Taggart (68).

Price went out in 38 (+2) in his opening nine but closed out inward nine with 36 (E) including one-under for his last five holes.

TU's Liam Hermansson shot 75 and is tied for 24^th place while Blake Williams posted 76 and is 30^th. The duo of Liam van Deventer and Hunter Hartman each shot 80 and are tied for 48^th place.

Van Deventer's round Sunday was the 95th of his career which is a new program record, breaking the previous mark of 94 rounds by Brent Dyson (2000-2004).

Play continues on Monday with the second round followed by Tuesday's final 18 holes. The winner of the championship earns the league's automatic berth to next month's NCAA South/Southeast Super Regional.
