MONROE, N.C. --- The Tusculum University men's golf team is tied for 12th place after after the opening day of the 2026 Ralph Hargett Memorial Tournament. The two-day, 54-hole tournament is being hosted by Wingate University.
The Pioneers sit a 15-over par when play was suspended due to darkness. Most of the golfers got in 27 holes and will complete the second round on Tuesday morning, followed by the final round. Play on Monday was halted twice due to rain.
Tusculum opened the day with an aggregate score of 300 but have followed with a three-over par total through nine holes.
Host Wingate, the No. 5 ranked team in the country, leads the event at 16-under par. Emmanuel is second at seven-under par, followed by Erskine (-2), Anderson (-1), Catawba (+2), Carson-Newman (+2), Lenoir-Rhyne (+7), Wingate B (+7), Ferris State (+11), Belmont Abbey (+11), Montevallo (+14), Tusculum (+15), Coker (+15), Newberry (+18), North Greenville (+21), Young Harris (+31), Belmont Abbey B (+32).
Wingate's Alfie Storer has the first day lead as he sits at eight-under par after 27 holes.
Tusculum's Ed Linley is the low Pioneer at two-over par as he posted a 74 and is even par after nine holes including an eagle 3 on his last hole of the day. He is currently in 32nd place.
George Evans is in 38th place at three-over par as he shot 75 in the opening round and is even par through nine holes. Buster O'Callaghan is 50th at five-over, Harrison Price is 70th at eight-over, while Fraser Laird is 75th at nine-over par.
