HARROGATE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum University men's tennis team competed at Lincoln Memorial University in the opener of its 2025-26 fall schedule on Saturday.
Senior Will Gee and junior David Negzaoui each earned a total of three wins on the day, winning a singles match and teaming for a pair of doubles victories.
Gee beat Daniel Gonzalez Garza of UVA Wise 6-3, 4-1 (retired) and Negzaoui had a 7-5, 6-4 win over Miguel De Rueda of UVA Wise. In doubles, the duo beat Sergio Sebastian Aranzeta Boneta and Victor Bourguignon of Lincoln Memorial 7-6 (8-6), and downed Yi-Hsuan Chen and Mustafa Raja of UVA Wise by a score of 6-2.
Also in singles, junior Rens Verhaar beat Chen 6-2, 6-4, junior Angus Howard defeated Kai Miyatake of Lincoln Memorial 6-3, 6-4 and freshman Reese McCann beat Bourguignon 6-1, 7-6 (7-5).
In doubles play, sophomore Kai Poelchau teamed with McCann for a 7-5 win over the LMU duo of Radu Florea and Miyatake, while Verhaar and Howard defeated UVA Wise's Daniel Gonzalez Garza and De Rueda by 6-2.
Tusculum will participate in the ITA Southeast Regional meet at Sumter, South Carolina beginning Friday, Sept. 26 and continuing through Monday, Sept. 29.
