MILLIGAN, Tenn. --- The Tusculum University men's tennis team claimed a 4-0 victory over Milligan University in non-conference men's tennis Tuesday afternoon at the Mathes Tennis Center.
The Pioneers (3-0) took the doubles point from the Buffaloes as Angus Howard and Reese McCann defeated Michal Curlej and Thiago Petry 6-4 at flight one, and Rens Veraar teamed with Kai Poelchau for a 6-4 win over Gonzaga Lafarga and Phil Schollhorn at flight two.
In singles, David Negzaoui took a 6-4, 6-3 win over Martin Mercander at flight three and Romain Payan beat Lafarga in three sets by a 6-0, 6-7 (3-7), 5-4 score when Lafarga was forced to retire due to injury. At flight five, Angus Howard was up 5-0 on Petry in the first set when the match was defaulted to the Pioneers by withdrawal.
The Pioneers will play Young Harris in a neutral-site match at Lincoln Memorial University on Saturday, Feb. 14 beginning at 10 a.m.
