ROCK HILL, S.C. --- The Tusculum University men's tennis team had three players honored on the All-South Atlantic Conference team for the 2026 season, the SAC office announced Wednesday.

Junior Rens Verhaar is a third-team All-SAC selection in singles, with second-team honors to the doubles tandem of junior Angus Howard and freshman Reese McCann.

The trio helped the Pioneers to a 17-4 overall record and an 8-3 mark in SAC play, good for a tie for third place in the final league standings. The Pioneers were ranked inside the ITA Division II Top 30 for most of the season, with three victories against ranked opponents during the year.

Verhaar went 11-8 in singles this season for the Pioneers, with an 8-7 mark in spring dual matches and a 4-3 record in league play playing primarily at flight two. The native of Amsterdam, The Netherlands had a streak of 24 straight game victories spanning three matches, and had a 3-1 record in tiebreakers. Through three seasons, Verhaar has a 27-26 career record in singles for the Pioneers.

Howard and McCann teamed up at number-one doubles for the Pioneers, going 11-9 overall with a 4-6 record in SAC play. Howard, a junior from Bath, England, and McCann, a freshman from Belfast, Northern Ireland, helped the Pioneers go 15-6 as a team in doubles during the season and 6-5 in SAC matches.

The Pioneers are seeded fourth in the SAC Championship Tournament and will face fifth-seeded Lenoir-Rhyne in the quarterfinal round on Thursday, April 16 beginning at 9 a.m. at the Palmetto Tennis Center in Sumter, South Carolina.
