Verheer earns CSC Academic All-District honors

AUSTIN, Texas --- Tusculum University's Rens Verhaar has been named to the 2026 NCAA Division II Academic All-District® 3 Men's Tennis first team as selected by the College Sports Communicators. Verhaar earns this honor for a second straight year.

The 2026 Academic All-District® Men's Tennis Teams recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.

District 3 is comprised of colleges and universities representing the South Atlantic Conference, Peach Belt Conference and Conference Carolinas. To be eligible, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher, must be at least a sophomore and be in the lineup for 70 percent of the total matches played by the team that includes team scores.

Verhaar, a junior from Amsterdam, The Netherlands, is majoring in sport science and has a 3.74 GPA. He is a member of the SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll, Dean's List, Charles Oliver Gray Honors List and the Tusculum Athletic Director's Honor Roll.

He earned All-SAC third team recognition in singles this spring as he went 11-9 overall including 4-3 in league action, playing primarily at the No. 2 flight. He recorded a streak of 24 straight game victories spanning three matches and had a 3-1 record in tiebreakers. In his three years with the Pioneers, he has a 27-27 career singles record.

Verhaar helped Tusculum to a 17-5 record and a third-place finish in the conference standings. TU posted a nine-win improvement from last season and recorded three victories against nationally-ranked opponents.

The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes tennis honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced this summer.

The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2025-2026 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs.
