ROCK HILL, S.C. ---

Tusculum College has earned the No. 4 seed for the 2011 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Softball Tournament, which is hosted Wednesday through Saturday by Carson-Newman College in Jefferson City.

The Pioneers, who are 30-15 overall and 11-7 in SAC play, will face No. 5 Wingate (30-13, 11-7 SAC) in the tournament opener Wednesday at 9 a.m. The Pioneers earned the fourth seed ahead of the Bulldogs by way of their doubleheader sweep on March 19. It will be the first meeting between the schools in the SAC Tournament since 2007.

Lenoir-Rhyne University (37-8, 16-2 SAC), the defending tournament champion, earned the top seed after winning the seventh conference championship in school history and fifth in the last six years. The Bears will face eighth-seed Lincoln Memorial (25-22, 6-12 SAC) at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Carson-Newman College (36-13-1, 14-4 SAC) is the tournament host and second seed and will face seventh-seed Brevard (28-19, 6-12 SAC) at 2 p.m. on Wednesday.
