ROCK HILL, S.C. --- Chelsey Stonesifer has been named the South Atlantic Conference WePlayed Sports Pitcher of the Week after her near flawless performance in the circle last week. This is her third career honor and first as a Pioneer.
In her two appearances on the week, the Littlestown, Pennsylvania native pitched Tusculum to two complete game victories. Against West Virginia State, the junior allowed one run on four hits with two walks and six strikeouts. Versus Barton, Stonesifer notched TU's first shutout of the season, allowing just two hits, one walk, and tied her season-best of nine strikeouts in just five innings.
For the season, Stonesifer tied for first in the SAC in starts (6), tied first in appearances (8), tied first in saves (1), second in hits allowed per seven innings (4.67), second in innings pitched (36.0), second in shutouts (1), second in strikeouts (42), third in victories (4), fifth in complete games (3), fifth in strikeouts per seven innings (8.2), and sixth in WHIP (1.11). On the national scale, she is 18th in saves, 24th in strikeouts, and 30th in shutouts.
Tusculum (5-7) is scheduled to host Emmanuel on Thursday (Feb. 26) for a 2 p.m. doubleheader as its next competition.
