GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Chelsey Stonesifer has been named the Tennessee Sports Writers Association (TSWA) Pitcher of the Week after her stellar performance in the circle last week. This is her second state honor of the season.
In her four appearances on the week, the Littlestown, Pennsylvania picked up three wins. In game one versus Converse, Stonesifer tossed a three-hitter, allowing one run with four strikeouts. She entered the seventh inning of game two in the series, needing just four pitches to record an out and the victory as the Pioneers walked off the Valkyries. Stonesifer pitched another complete game in the first contest of the Catawba series, allowing two runs on four hits with two walks and three strikeouts. She also tossed two scoreless innings in the nightcap.
Offensively across the four games, Stonesifer added three hits, four RBI, and a run, including a three-run homer.
For the season, Stonesifer leads the SAC in WHIP (1.05) and is second in hits allowed per seven innings (4.67; 24th nationally), shutouts (4; 24th nationally), strikeouts (114; 25th nationally), innings pitched (112.1), starts (17), appearances (23), saves (2), third in complete games (12; 33rd nationally), victories (13; 25th nationally), fourth in earned run average (2.06), and fifth in strikeouts per seven innings (7.1).
Following Tuesday's SAC doubleheader with Mars Hill, Tusculum will host nationally-ranked Lenoir-Rhyne this Saturday for a 2 p.m. twinbill at Red Edmonds Field.
