GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Chelsey Stonesifer has been named the South Atlantic Conference WePlayed Sports and Tennessee Sports Writers Association (TSWA) Pitcher of the Week after her stellar performance in the circle last week. This is her fifth career conference honor (three as a Pioneer) and third at the state level. Stonesifer has swept the state and conference level awards for the second time this season.
In her four appearances on the week, the Littlestown, Pennsylvania native went 3-0, tallying a victory in each start, and a scoreless relief stint. Against Mars Hill, Stonesifer pitched her fifth shutout of the season, allowing just five hits, two walks, and eight strikeouts. She threw in both games of the doubleheader against No. 18 Lenoir-Rhyne. In the game one start, she went the distance, allowing four runs on four hits with six walks and seven strikeouts on 130 pitches. Stonesifer pitched the final two frames of the nightcap, holding the ranked Bears scoreless, while relenting no hits, one walk, and two strikeouts. In the non-conference contest versus Emmanuel, Stonesifer pitched all five innings of the 15-1 victory, allowing three hits, two walks, and six strikeouts. For the week, she averaged a 1.67 ERA and 7.67 strikeouts per seven innings.
For the season, Stonesifer is 15th in victories (16), 16th in shutouts (5), 17th in strikeouts (137), 18th in hits allowed per seven innings (4.57), and 24th in complete games (15) across Division II. At the conference level, she leads in hits allowed per seven innings, shutouts, strikeouts, and WHIP (1.06). Stonesifer is also second in starts (20), innings pitched (133.1), appearances (27), saves (2), and wins, and third in caught stealing by (7), complete games, and fourth in ERA (2.00).
