NEW ORLEANS, La. --- Tusculum University's Isaiah Chapman has been named the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division II Southeast Region Women's Indoor Track & Field Assistant Coach of the Year.
In his first season with the Pioneers, Chapman helped coach the Tusculum women's sprinters to number one in Division II in the USTFCCCA Event Squad Rankings in both the 60 meters and 200 meters, and helped the Pioneers to a 25th-place finish at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championship.
Chapman coached senior Jahzara Hart to first-team All-America honors in both the 60 meters and 200 meters, and second-team All-America recognition for senior Shanice Cox and sophomore Qitarah Castlin in the 200 meters, along with sophomore Kori Moore in the 60 hurdles.
A native of Raleigh, North Carolina, Chapman was All-CIAA in multiple events while competing at Saint Augustine's, then completed his collegiate career at Maryland where he ran in both the 400 hurdles and 4x400 relay at the Big Ten Outdoor Track & Field Championship last season.
Chapman is the second Pioneer assistant to receive Southeast Region Assistant Coach of the Year honors, joining current head coach Robert Williams who received the honor for the 2022 men's indoor season.
He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Saint Augustine's in 2024 where he majored in criminal justice. He is completing his Master's degree in family science from the University of Maryland.
