KNOXVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum University men's and women's outdoor track and field teams competed on the first day of the Tennessee Invite, held this weekend at Tom Black Track at LaPorte Stadium.

Junior Kialia Claiborne broke her own school record in the women's 400-meter hurdles, while junior Noah Girard placed sixth overall in the men's javelin to lead the Pioneers on Friday.

Competition will resume Saturday at noon, with the Pioneers competing in seven men's and six women's events during the afternoon.

MEN'S RECAP
Girard was sixth in the javelin with a mark of 52.83 meters (173 feet, 4 inches), his third-best finish of the season and fourth-best in program history.

Freshman Albert Ziegler placed 15th in the 1500 meters with a time of 4:01.18, which is ninth-best in program history. In the 5000 meters, freshman Casen Davis was 25th at 16:34.66, freshman Coen Morgan took 26th at 16:35.37 and senior Jerry Ricker was 30th overall with a career-best time of 17:01.58.

Sophomore Tinotenda Musariri was the top finisher for the Pioneers in the 200 meters at 21.47 seconds, while freshman Ivan Garcia Rubio led Tusculum with a 20th-place result in the 400-meter hurdles at 55.30 seconds, fifth on the program performance list in the event.

WOMEN'S RECAP
Claiborne ran 1:00.70 in the 400 hurdles to take third overall and break her own school record of 1:01.09 set at the Blue Bear Invite on March 28. Sophomore Kori Moore was fourth with a career-best time of 1:00.85.

In the 200 meters, sophomore Qitarah Castlin ran a career-best time of 23.61 seconds and placed third in the field of 87 runners. Senior Jahzara Hart was 11th in 23.92 seconds, while senior Shanice Cox took 17th overall in 24.09 seconds.

Senior Jesica Mbhamali moved into fourth place on the program performance list after running 4:59.11 in the 1500 meters.

In the javelin, sophomore Agustina Dittrich was 14th overall with a top throw of 25.58 meters (83 feet, 11 inches) and junior Kieley Smith was 18th at 22.70 meters (74 feet, 5 inches).
