Nine Pioneers earn All-Region honors from USTFCCCA

NEW ORLEANS, La. --- The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association has announced its Division II Outdoor Track & Field All-Region honorees for the 2026 season.

Tusculum University received honors in 11 individual and three relay events from the USTFCCCA, which grants All-Region status to the top five individuals in each event from each region along with each member of the region's top three relay teams.

All-Region honors for the Tusculum women went to senior Jahzara Hart and sophomore Qitarah Castlin in the 100 and 200 meters, along with sophomore Kori Moore in the 200 meters, 100 hurdles and 400 hurdles. Junior Kialia Claiborne was All-Region in both the 100 hurdles and 400 hurdles, with senior Shanice Cox taking honors in the 100 meters. Castlin, Cox, Moore and Hart were also All-Region in both the 4c100 and 4x400 relays.

For the Tusculum men, junior Chazz Alexander was All-Region in the 400 meters, along with the 4x400-meter relay of freshman Lamarkus Dunn, sophomore Tinotenda Musariri, freshman Tomas Figueiras and Alexander.

Top Region Performer honors went to Hart in the 100 meters, Castlin in the 200 meters and Moore in the 100 hurdles along with the women's 4x100-meter relay and men's 4x400-meter relay. It is the first time that the Pioneers have had the Top Region Performer in five different events in a single season.

Hart (Raleigh, N.C.) is now a seven-time All-Region honoree after repeating in each of her three events from last season along with the 4x400 relay. She had the top time in the region in the 100 meters and is ranked first nationally at 11.11 seconds, set April 17 at the Aggie Invitational. Hart is ranked fourth in the region in the 200 meters at 23.48 seconds. Castlin (Griffin, Ga.) ran 23.26 seconds at the Lee Last Chance Meet on May 9 to take the top spot in the region in the 200 meters, and is ranked third in the region in the 100 meters at 11.41 seconds at the Aggie Invitational.

Moore (Jonesboro, Ga.) was All-Region in five different events this season, with the top time in the region at 13.48 seconds at the Aggie Invitational. She is second in the region in the 400 hurdles at 58.94 seconds, and second in the 200 meters at 23.35 seconds. Cox (Minneapolis, Minn.) is fourth in the region in the 100 meters at 11.48 seconds, set at the Lee Last Chance Meet, and repeats as All-Region in the 4x100 meters. Claiborne (Lancaster, Texas) joins Moore as All-Region in both hurdles events, ranked fifth in both the 100 hurdles (13.86 seconds) and the 400 hurdles (1:00.65).

The 4x100 relay of Castlin, Cox, Moore and Hart is ranked number one in Division II after running a time of 43.97 seconds at the Aggie Invitational. At the same meet, the same four runners posted the second-best time in the region in the 4x400 relay at 3:41.78.

Alexander (Palo Seco, Trinidad and Tobago) had the second-best time in the Southeast Region in the 400 meters, when he ran a school-record 47.00 seconds at the Electric City Invitational on April 3. The 4x400 relay of Alexander, Dunn (Jonesborough, Tenn.), Figueiras (Lisbon, Portugal) and Musariri (Harare, Zimbabwe) had the region's top time this season when they ran 3:10.73 at the Lee Last Chance Meet.

Castlin, Cox, Hart and Moore will represent Tusculum at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championship from May 21-23 at Emporia State University in Emporia, Kansas.
