Stephany Neptune has been named to the Daktronics Division II
Women's Basketball All-South Atlantic Region Second Team announced
College officials Wednesday.Neptune, a 5-9 forward from Wallkill, N.Y., led the South Atlantic Conference this season in rebounding, grabbing 11.2 boards per contest, which is also currently eighth in the nation. The All-SAC First Team selection is one of 40 national finalists for the WBCA All-America Team. Her 335 rebounds this season are fifth in school history and ninth in the conference record book.
Neptune led the SAC with 16 double-doubles this season and has posted double-digit rebounds on 20 occasions this year. On Feb. 13 against Wingate, she tied a school single-game record with 23 rebounds, the fifth highest board tally in league history. She also accounted for 20 rebounds against Lincoln Memorial in the opening game of the Food Lion SAC Tournament.
Neptune is also fourth on the squad in scoring, averaging 11 points per game (19th in SAC). She also leads her team in field goal percentage (50% - 6th in SAC) and blocked shots per game (1.83 bpg - 2nd in SAC/37th in NCAA II).
Tusculum (26-4) is enjoying one of its best campaigns in school history. The Pioneers are currently ranked No. 19 in the nation, while capturing the program's first South Atlantic Conference championship. TC earned the program's first-ever NCAA Tournament at-large bid and will be the No. 2 seed in this weekend's South Atlantic Regional. The Pioneers will face seventh-seeded Lander University on Friday night at 8 p.m. in Florence, S.C.
The Daktronics All-Region Women's Basketball Team are selected by a vote of the region's sports information directors.
