Gunn jumps to 14th in scoring, Pioneers listed in NCAA statistics

INDIANAPOLIS --- Tusculum College junior Jasmine Gunn jumped 11 spots in individual scoring in the latest edition of the NCAA Division II women's basketball statistics, announced NCAA officials Monday, entering this week ranked 14th in the nation in points per game.

The Pioneers (16-9, 9-6 SAC) are listed in 15 individual and team categories, ranking 18th in the nation in team scoring with an average of 77.7 points per game. Tusculum is also ranked 35th in field goal percentage (43.4), 51st in blocked shots (3.8), 51st in scoring margin (+8.7), 62nd in rebounding margin (+4.0), and 70th in steals (10.2).

Gunn is in the midst of a one-of-a-kind season for the Pioneers, averaging a career-high 19.6 points per game to rank 14th in the nation in individual scoring, thanks to an impressive scoring average of 30 markers per contest over her last three games. The 4-11 All-American is also ranked 12th in steals (3.1), and 18th in assists (5.2) to enter this week as the only player at any level of the NCAA to rank in the top 20 in all three categories in her respective division.

Junior Catherine Hintz continues to be ranked among the nation's leaders in both rebounding and blocked shots, entering the week listed 45th in rejections (1.7) and 72nd in boards (8.5). Senior Kat Spears is also listed among the nation's leaders in blocked shots, ranking 58th in the country in rejections per game (1.5).

Freshman Kendal Baxter is once again ranked among the nation's top 10 three-point shooters, entering this week ranked ninth in the NCAA Division II averaging 3.3 triples per game. The 5-5 guard is also ranked among the most accurate three-point shooters in the nation this season, having knocked down over 36 percent of her attempts from long-range thus far.

Tusculum returns to the court on Wednesday when the Pioneers travel to Mars Hill, N.C. to take on Mars Hill College in their regular season finale.
