BREVARD, N.C. --- Tusculum College out-scored Brevard College 14-3 in overtime to earn an 86-75 victory in South Atlantic Conference women's basketball action on Tuesday night from Boshamer Gymnasium in Brevard, North Carolina. Three players recorded double-doubles for the Pioneers, the most since 2010.

Senior forward Rainey Story tallied 17 points and 11 rebounds off the bench for TC (1-4, 1-2 SAC), while junior forward Kristen McMillion had 13 points to go with a game-high 21 rebounds. Junior guard Briana Mitchell added 14 points and 10 rebounds for her first double-double of the season.

Sophomore guard Maelyn Cutshaw led TC's scoring with 18 points, while senior guard Blakely Burleson was the fifth Pioneer to score in double-figures with a season-high 17. McMillon's 21 rebounds was the third 20-rebound effort of her career, and it was tied for the ninth-best in Tusculum history.

After Tusculum held a 10 point lead with just over three minutes to play, Brevard (0-2, 0-2) used an 11-3 run to cut Pioneer advantage to 72-69 with just 42 seconds remaining. Trailing by three, the Tornados' Katie Williams nailed a triple to tie the game at 72 with 28 seconds on the clock.

TC tried to hold the ball for the last shot, but McMillion committed a turnover just two seconds into the possession and gave BC a shot to win it in regulation. Madison Lenox put up the would-be game winning jumper with nine seconds remaining, but it didn't fall and McMillion corralled the rebound as the clock expired and the game went into overtime.

The Pioneers held BC scoreless through the first half of the overtime period while scoring seven points to take a 79-72 lead. Lenox hit a layup to put BC on the board in OT, and Williams nailed a free throw to cut the deficit to 79-75 with 1:47 to play. In the next three possessions, TC was sent to the foul line each time and hit all six free throws.

On the other side, BC missed back-to-back three point attempts and TC held an 85-75 lead with 57 seconds to play. Tusculum added one last free throw in the final minute and grabbed three rebounds on two missed shots by the Tornados to earn the 11-point victory.

BC's Williams led all scorers with 27 points and tallied 11 rebounds for a double-double. Lenox finished with 25 points while Taylor Hiatt pulled down 10 boards.

TC led by as many as seven on two occasions in the first half, but held a narrow four-point lead with two minutes to play until halftime. Brevard ended the half on an 8-1 run and took a 38-35 lead into the locker room.

Cutshaw nailed a three-pointer in the first possession of the second half to quickly tie the game at 38-all. The game was knotted for the ninth time at 57-57 before TC reeled off an 11-1 run to take its largest lead of the game of 10 (68-58) with 3:38 to play.

Tusculum out-rebounded Brevard 60-47 and shot 43 percent (33-for-76) from the field compared the Tornados' 27 percent (22-for-79). TC held a 32-24 advantage in points in the paint and a 24-16 advantage in second chance points.

TC will be back in action on Monday, December 1 in a non-conference matchup at West Liberty University. Tipoff is set for 5 p.m.
