GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Catawba College used a 12-1 run late in the second half to pull away from Tusculum College and claim an 84-74 victory on Monday night in South Atlantic Conference women's basketball action from Pioneer Arena. Senior guard Brianna Mitchell scored a season-high 15 points for TC (2-6, 2-3 SAC).

Overall, four Pioneers scored in double figures, including 13 points from senior forward Rainey Story and 10 points each from junior guard Shynese Whitener and sophomore guard Maelyn Cutshaw, her sixth-straight double-figure scoring effort. Junior forward Kristen McMillion had seven points to go with a team-high seven rebounds while only playing in 15 minutes due to foul trouble.

After the score was tied at halftime 46-46, neither team held a lead of more than six points through the first ten minutes of the second half. With the game knotted at 66-66 with 7:37 remaining, Catawba (5-4, 2-3) held Tusculum without a field goal for the next six minutes of action and used the 12-1 run to push its lead to 80-67 with 2:09 to play.

TC would add seven points in the final two minutes of the game, but the Indians picked up the 10-point victory. Catawba held a narrow 36-34 advantage in points in the paint, while the Pioneers out-rebounded the Indians 36-35. Tusculum shot 41 percent from the field on 25-of-61 shooting, while Mitchell was 6-of-11 from the field, her highest shooting percentage of the season (54%).

The Indians led by as many as ten points in the first half after Chloe Bully connected on a three-pointer to give Catawba a 35-25 lead with just under eight minutes to play before the break. However, TC scored 12 of the game's next 14 points to knot the score at 37-37 with 4:36 before halftime.

The Pioneers took their first lead of the game since the five-minute mark on a free throw by Cutshaw that made the score 40-39 with just over three minutes until the break. TC held a three-point lead with a minute to play in the first half, but a three pointer by Catawba's Janna Dixon sent the game into the locker rooms tied at 46-46.
