ETOWAH, N.C. --- The Tusculum College women's golf team is in fourth place after two rounds of the 2009 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Women's Golf Tournament, and sophomore Emily Palenkas is in ninth heading into the final round at Etowah Valley Country Club and Golf Resort.

Carson-Newman College shot back-to-back rounds of 320+320=640 to take a 19-shot lead into the final round of its inaugural tip to the SAC Tournament. Wingate University is second at 327+332=359, followed by Catawba College (331+337=668), Tusculum (336+338=374), Newberry College (335+342=677), Lenoir-Rhyne University (340+337=677), Lincoln Memorial (334+357=391), Mars Hill College (362+269=431), and Brevard College (413+398=811).

Tusculum's Palenkas (80+83=163) is in ninth place after the second round, while Adriana Vizcarrondo (87+82=169) and Susanne Sisco (82+87=169) are tied for 16th. All-SAC First Team selection Mary Ann Vizcarrondo (87+87=174) is in 26th place and Amber Ladner (91+86=177) is in 30th to round out the scores for the Pioneers.

The final round of the 54-hole championship will be held Tuesday morning at the par 72, 6,796-yard layout.
