Padilla 11th, Pioneers 14th after day one of D2 South Regional Preview

CLEVELAND, Tenn. --- Tusculum University senior Reagan Padilla is tied for 11th place following day one action of the NCAA Division II South Regional Preview. The two-day, 54-hole event is being held at the Cleveland Country Club and hosted by Lee University.

The 16-team tournament field features seven teams who are currently ranked in the WGCA Division II Women's Poll including five programs listed in the top-15.

The Pioneers are in 14th place after posting team scores of 310 and 317 and stand at 627.

Lynn and Wingate are tied atop the leaderboard at 587. Lynn, the No. 5 team in the country, posted rounds of 299 and 288 for their 587 total. Wingate, listed third in the latest DII poll, shot 295 and had sole possession after Monday's opening round. The Bulldogs followed with a 292 and are tied with the Fighting Knights.

Lander (#21 in NCAA II) is third with 595, followed by North Georgia (#16 in NCAA II) with 596 and second-ranked Anderson rounds out the top-five with 598.  Host Lee (#13 in NCAA II) is sixth at 601 and Rollins (#13 in NCAA II) is in seventh with 603. Erskine is eighth with 610, followed by Lincoln Memorial (613), Eckerd (616), Emmanuel (619), Mississippi College (620), Carson-Newman (625), Tusculum (627), Lenoir-Rhyne (630) and Union, Tenn. (636).

Padilla is four strokes off the pace set by Carson-Newman's Emery Fisher, who has the individual lead after 36 holes with her one-under par score of 71-72=143.

Padilla opened with an even par 72 as her round included four birdies, six bogeys, seven pars and an eagle on the par-4 third hole. In Monday's second round, she was at one-under par for the tournament after five holes. She bogeyed back-to-back holes before bouncing back with a birdie on No. 5. She scored four straight pars, but three consecutive bogeys put her at +3 for her round. She closed out with back-to-back pars to card a 75.

Padilla's 147 is tied for her fourth-best 36-hole total during her TU career.

Senior Annabelle Mozingo and sophomore Maylei Hildenbrand are tied for 64th place with 159. Mozingo opened with a career-best 76 before finishing with an 83. Hildenbrand tallied rounds of 81 and 78 for her 159 score.

Junior Delfin Filiz is in 83rd place with 85-81=166, while freshman McKenna Williams is in 89th place after carding 81-93=174 in her collegiate debut.

The D2 South Regional Preview will wrap up with the final 18 holes on Tuesday. The par-72, 6,036-yard Cleveland Country Club will serve as the host venue for the NCAA II South Regional Championship this coming May.
