Filiz fourth, Pioneers sixth after day one of SAC Women's Golf Championship

GREENVILLE, S.C. --- Tusculum University is in sixth place after day one of the 2026 South Atlantic Conference Women's Golf Championship. The 11-team tournament is being played at The Preserve at Verdae on the par-72, 5,808-yard layout.

The Pioneers opened with an aggregate team score of 305 and was in fifth place after 18 holes. TU followed with a 316 to give TU a 36-hole score of 621.

Tusculum junior Delfin Filiz is in fourth place in the chase for the individual medal where she sits at two-over par 146. She posted a very clean scorecard throughout the day as she fired a two-over par 74 which including one birdie, three bogeys and 14 pars. Her second round was even better as she tallied two birdies, two bogeys and 14 pars for an even par 72.

Filiz is just two shots off the lead held by Lincoln Memorial's Dilyara Bulambayeva who posted back-to-back rounds of 72 for her even par total of 144. Wingate's two-time SAC Player of the Year Amely Bochaton is tied for second place at one-over par 143 with Bulldog teammate Olivia Meinecke.

Lincoln Memorial, the 24th-ranked team in NCAA Division II, has the 36-hole lead at 583, a dozen shots in front of defending champion and top-ranked Wingate who fired 595. Catawba is third with 600, while Anderson is in fourth place at 609.

This year's tournament format is different from year's past. Following Monday's 18 holes, the top-four teams will advance to match-medal play on Tuesday to determine the conference champion.  Tusculum finds itself 16 shots out of moving onto the final day.

Carson-Newman is fifth with 615, followed by Tusculum (621), Lenoir-Rhyne (632), Coker (671), Newberry (678), UVA Wise (716) and Mars Hill (763).

TU senior Reagan Padilla is in 13th place with 76-75=151 (+7). Her opening round included one birdie, 12 pars and five bogeys. In her final 18 holes on Sunday, she was one-under par for her opening eight holes, but a pair of double bogeys down the stretch, spoiled a round that also included 15 pars.

Sophomore Maylei Hildenbrand and senior Annabelle Mozingo are tied for 33rd place at 162 (+18). Hildenbrand opened with a 77 and followed it with an 85. Mozingo carded a 78 for her first round and closed out with and 84.

Freshman Lidya Atalay posted a 90 in the first round for the Pioneers and was subbed for the second 18 by rookie McKenna Williams who shot 92.

Monday's third round will begin with tee times starting at 8:10 a.m. as Tusculum will be paired with Anderson University and Carson-Newman University.
