ROCK HILL, S.C. --- Tusculum University midfield Juliette Cusano was named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending Feb. 21, the SAC office announced Monday.
Cusano, a graduate student from Davie, Florida, became Tusculum's career leader in goals scored in the Pioneers' season-opening 17-7 win over Southern Wesleyan on Sunday. Cusano broke the record late in the first half on the second of the seven goals she scored in the match, which boosted her career total to 145. Cusano also had 10 draw controls and two caused turnovers in the win, along with three ground balls.
A preseason second-team All-SAC honoree, Cusano is Tusculum's all-time leader in goals (145), free-position goals (53) and shots (287), ranks second in draw controls (203) and caused turnovers (57), third in points (164) and fourth in ground balls (95). She has scored at least one goal in 40 consecutive games, and reached the seven-goal mark in a match for the sixth time in her career in the Southern Wesleyan victory.
The Pioneers (1-0) open their SAC schedule on Saturday, Feb. 27 at Mars Hill beginning at 4 p.m.
