Tusculum College junior goalkeeper Marissa Williams has been
named the South Atlantic Conference Co-Player of the Week in
Women's soccer for the week ending Sept. 22, the conference office
announced Tuesday.
Williams totaled 10 saves while recording two shutouts for
Tusculum, in a 0-0 draw at Queens on Wednesday and a 4-0 victory at
Mars Hill on Saturday. Against Queens, the Canton, Mich. native
stopped a penalty kick to preserve a scoreless tie for the second
time this season, one of her six saves in the match. In the win
over Mars Hill, Williams tallied four saves to help Pioneer head
coach Mike Joy earn his 300th career victory.
Williams' two shutouts increased her career total to 17, moving her
into a tie for second on the program's career shutout list. She
ranks second in the SAC with a save percentage of .851 and has made
40 saves to rank third in the conference.
Wingate goalkeeper Ashlyn Hardie shared the award with Williams
after duplicating her feat of two shutouts in a win and draw for
the Bulldogs.
