GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The No. 37 Tusculum
women's tennis team blanked visiting Wingate 9-0 Saturday in the
South Atlantic Conference action at the Nichols Tennis Complex. The
Pioneers (17-3, 6-1 SAC) win their sixth consecutive match, while
improving their home record to 10-1 on the season.
Tusculum rolled through doubles, including an 8-2 win by the No. 2
pair of Jennifer Sparks and Amanda
Pike. Pike and Sparks also accounted for points in singles
play. Sparks won at No. 1 singles 6-2, 6-2 over Wingate's
Kara Stasikelis, while Pike posted a 7-5, 6-1 win
against Hollyn Alberghini at the No. 3 flight.
Bronwyn Hartley, Katelyn Doss,
Blake Thompson and Heidi von der
Lage each accounted for singles wins in the victory.
Tusculum and Wingate both return to action next week at the 2008
Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Tournament. Official seeding
and pairings will be announced by the league office.
