ROCK HILL, S.C. --- Tusculum College libero Caitlyn Dean has been named the South Atlantic Conference Volleyball Specialist of the Week.
Dean, a senior from Fort Wayne, Ind., averaged 6.31 digs per set to lead the Pioneers (15-7, 10-5 SAC) to three league victories last week.
She opened the week by posting 22 digs in Tusculum's three-set
sweep over Carson-Newman. Dean followed with a 29-dig performance
as the Pioneers outlasted Lenoir-Rhyne in a 3-2 thriller in
Hickory, N.C. In the final match of the week, TC rallied from a
set down to win at Brevard in a five-set marathon as Dean paced the
defense with 31 digs. The 31 digs mark her fifth 30-dig outing of
the year.
The three-time All-SAC first team honoree and two-time All-American
totaled 82 digs and 17 assists, while playing in 13 sets in her
three matches.
Dean's 2,958 career digs are a South Atlantic Conference record and third most in NCAA Division II history.
The Pioneers will be at Catawba this Friday night for a 7 p.m. match. Tusculum is riding a three-match winning streak and has won six of their last eight outings. TC is in a three-way tie for second place in the league.
