ROCK HILL, S.C. --- The Tusculum University women's volleyball team saw three of its members recognized by the South Atlantic Conference on Wednesday (Nov. 20). Madison Adkins earned first team honors, while Martina Foster landed on the third team. Addison McLarty collected All-Freshman Team laurels.
This marks the second career honors for both Adkins (third team in 2023) and Foster (all-freshman in 2022).
Adkins, a senior from Olive Hill, Kentucky, excelled in her role at the Tusculum setter in 2024 and is just one of two Pioneers to play in all 102 sets. She recorded 911 assists at an 8.93 per set rate, good for third and fourth in the SAC, respectively. Adkins is second on the team with a career-best 297 digs and third in both service aces (25) and total blocks (49). She upped her career-high in assists to 50 twice and digs to 24 during her last campaign. Adkins became the seventh in program history to record at least 2,000 assists in a career, reaching the milestone on Senior Night against Lenoir-Rhyne.
Foster, a junior from Hickory, North Carolina, joins Adkins as the other Pioneer to see action in every set this season. The middle blocker finished with the second-most kills on the squad (240) on the best hitting percentage (.254). She also led the team with 30 aces and 70 blocks, adding a collegiate-best 89 digs. Foster ranks in the top-25 in the conference in kills, hitting percentage, and blocks, while in the top-10 in aces. Foster set new career-highs in kills (18, twice), aces (5), digs (11), and total blocks (7), notching her first double-double against Mars Hill on September 24 with 18 kills and 11 digs. She currently ranks eighth in career blocks (243) at Tusculum.
McLarty, an outside hitter from Acworth, Georgia, marks the third-straight season that Tusculum has earned a spot on the All-Freshman Team (Foster in 2022 and Caley Sosnowski in 2023). She finished with a team-best 261 kills on a 2.84 per set rate, which both rank seventh in the SAC. Her attacks per set average of an even 10.0 rank seventh in Tusculum season history and puts her second for a career. McLarty's attempts (920) and rate are both good for fourth in the league. McLarty also added eight assists, six aces, 101 digs, and 27 total blocks (12 solo, 15 assists) in her first year at the collegiate level.
Tusculum advanced to the South Atlantic Conference Tournament for a sixth-straight year, finishing the season with a 13-14 overall record under first-year head coach Hannah Barrett.
