ROCK HILL, S.C. --- Tusculum College's Simon Holzapfel has been named the South Atlantic Conference Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week announced league officials Monday. This marks the second time this year he has earned this honor and sixth occasion of his stellar career.

Holzapfel, a senior from Nuremberg, Germany (Neves Gymnasium Nuremberg) recorded his third straight individual title of the season, by winning the Bulldog Stampede at Wingate University. He captured his 13th career individual title as he won the 8,000-meter race with a time of 26:09 for the second fastest 8K time in school history. Holzapfel finished a full 1:10 ahead of the second place runner.

Holzapfel also owns 13 of the top twenty 8K times in school history, including the top nine. He is a two-time All-Conference First Team honoree, including 2009 where he was the SAC Runner of the Year.

The Pioneers are back in action this Saturday as they compete at the Maryville College Invitational in Maryville, Tenn.
