GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The 2011 Tusculum College cross country schedule has been released announced head coach Suzanne Byrd.
The Pioneers have five regular-season meets, culminating with
the South Atlantic Conference Championship on Oct. 22.
The season begins Sept. 3 as Tusculum travels to Greensboro, N.C.
for the Guilford College cross country carnival. The following
week (Sept. 10), TC will venture to Newton, N.C. for the
Lenoir-Rhyne University Invitational.
On Sept. 24, the Pioneers will run at the Wingate University Bulldog Stampede in Wingate, N.C. followed by a week later (Oct. 1) at the Maryville College Invitational in Maryville, Tenn. The Pioneers posted a runner-up performance at last year's Maryville event.
Tusculum will close out the regular-season on Oct. 14 at the Royal Cross Country Challenge at McAlpine Park and hosted by Queens University of Charlotte. It will be a preview of the NCAA Division II Southeast Region Championship, also held in Charlotte, N.C. on Nov. 5.
"We are excited about our schedule as we approach a new era in Tusculum Cross Country," said Coach Byrd. "We feel it will be challenging for our young team but will allow possibilities for great achievement if our work ethic is where it needs to be."
The 2011 SAC Championship will be hosted by Carson-Newman College in Morristown, Tenn. on Oct. 22.
Following the regional championship on Nov. 5, the season will conclude with the NCAA II National Championship in Spokane, Wash.
