AUSTIN, Texas --- Tusculum University men's basketball student-athletes Bryce Jackson and Wesley Johnson have been named to the 2026 NCAA Division II Academic All-District® 3 Men's Basketball first team as selected by the College Sports Communicators.
The 2026 Academic All-District® Men's Basketball team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.
District 3 is comprised of colleges and universities representing the South Atlantic Conference, Peach Belt Conference and Conference Carolinas. To be eligible, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher, must be at least a sophomore and played in 90 percent of their team's games or start in 67 percent of their contests.
Jackson, a graduate student from Murfreesboro, Tennessee, garners this honor for a second straight season. He earned his undergraduate degree from Tusculum in just three years in 2025 where he finished with a 3.99 GPA. He graduated with summa cum laude distinction while majoring in sport management.
In 2025, he became only the second player in program history to earn a spot on the CSC Academic All-America® squad where he was a third team selection. He was also named to the NABC Honors Court and was the recipient of the prestigious SAC Minority Postgraduate Scholarship.
He is a member of the South Atlantic Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll, Dean's List, Charles Oliver Gray Honors List, President's List and the Athletic Director's Honor Roll. He is a two-time recipient of the Division II Athletic Directors Association's Academic Achievement Award.
Jackson led the Pioneers in scoring as he averaged 16.2 points per game (6th in SAC), while also topping the team in assists, dishing out 2.7 helpers per contest (16th in SAC). He shot 40 percent from the floor and 78 percent at the charity stripe, going 126-of-162 from the free throw line. He also averaged 5.0 rebounds per game and 1.2 steals per contest. He scored 20 or more points eight times this season and 22 times in his career.
Jackson's 1,265 career points ranked 19th-most in program history. His 341 career free throws made and 432 free throw attempts both ranked seventh-most by a Pioneer. His .789 career free throw percentage (9th) and 120 career steals (8th) both rank in TU's top-10.
Johnson, a graduate student from Raleigh, North Carolina, earns a spot on the CSC Academic All-District team for the first time in his collegiate career. He posted a 3.59 GPA during his undergraduate career at Campbell University and currently has a 3.53 GPA in graduate school at Tusculum where he is completing his MBA. He is a member of the Athletic Director's Honor Roll.
Johnson averaged 6.4 points and 3.2 rebounds per contest as he scored in double figures seven times including a career-best 20 markers in Tusculum's 76-60 road win at North Greenville.
The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced next month.
The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2025-2026 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs.
