Joao Friere begins his first season as a graduate assistant coach for the Pioneers in the fall of 2025.
Friere was an assistant coach at his alma mater of Knox College since his graduation in the spring of 2023. While at Knox, he compiled a 1.39 goals against average with a .716 save percentage and 96 saves for the Prairie Fire in his career.
Friere started 20 matches as a freshman in 2019, compiling a 0.98 goals against average with three shutouts and a 14-4-1 record. A native of Brazil, Friere finished his career with 16 wins in 27 starts along with five shutouts in 2,466 minutes of playing time.
Following his graduation, Friere was an assistant goalkeeper coach for the Prairie Fire during the 2023 and 2024 seasons for both the men's and women's teams.
