  • Softball to Host Cedarville and Lee at Red Edmonds Field

    GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Tusculum University softball will be hosting two teams over the weekend as Cedarville and Lee are scheduled to make their way to Greeneville on Friday and Saturday, respectively. Wednesday’s doubleheader at Emmanuel (Ga.) was postponed due to weather concerns. A reschedule date with the Lions has yet to be determined.

    DUE WEST, S.C. --- The Tusculum University softball team picked up its sixth win of the season, an eight-inning affair against Erskine, after falling earlier in the day to No. 5 Young Harris. The Bearcat/Fleet Invitational wrapped up on Saturday with the Pioneers going 2-2 in the two-day tournament.

The Pioneers will look to tie the program’s best start (6-0) on Valentine’s Day with wins over Belmont Abbey and Lander, and surpass it against preseason No. 5 Young Harris and Erskine on Saturday.

This marks the first Pioneer to collect the player accolade since Kaytlin Stroinski in 2013, the year of the Pioneers’ SAC Championship.

Game one ended at 14-5 in a high-scoring affair, while the Pioneers blanked the Valkyries 9-0 in the latter half of the twin-bill.

The Orange and Black will play the Converse College Valkyries on Saturday in Spartanburg before heading to Orangeburg to face the Claflin University Panthers on Sunday.

  • Softball Earns Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete and Team Honors

    LOUISVILLE, Ky. --- Tusculum softball had 14 student-athletes featured on the 2019 Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete list, the Association announced this week. The NFCA (National Fastpitch Coaches Association) also released the Easton/NFCA Academic Team rankings for the 2018-19 year, with the Pioneers sitting in a tie for 31st across Division II.
